Abstract
In order to test the plague-inhibiting and anti-inflammatory effect of dentifrices containing Bamboo salt and normal salt, the author selected 98 individuals and scaled and polished their teeth thoroughly in the first experiment. The control group had to use a dentifrice without Bamboo salt and salt. The experimental group had to use one of the following dentifrices containing 5% salt, 10% salt, 2% Bamboo salt, 5% Bamboo salt. The plaque index was checked once a week for four weeks, The Second experiment was done with the 45 individuals who were given one of the following dentifrice containing 2% Bamboo salt, 5% Bamboo salt. 10% salt and control dentifrice. The gingival index was evaluated at baseline and once a week for following 4 weeks. The whole experiment was done with double-blind method.
The test results are as follows:
1. There was no statistical significant in the increase of the plaque index, before and after the following 4 weeks, between the experimental groups and the control group. (00.05).
2. In the second experiment, there was no statistically significant decrease of gingival index in the control group(p>0.05), but the gingival inflammation decreased significantly in all experimental groups. (0).05).
3. In the experimental group, better results ,were obtained in the following order; 10%salt(21. 5%), 2% Bamboo(22. 7%), 5% Bamboo salt(28.7%).Both Bamboo salt and salt have high anti-inflammatory properties, but Bamboo salt is more effective in lower concentrations.
4. The statistical significance at time goes by was highest in the 5% bamboo salt.
Taken all together, both dentifrice containing Bamboo salt add salt have anti-
inflammatory properties but Bamboo salt was superior to normal salt in lower concentration
